Handles Diet
Love handles are fat deposits on the lower external oblique abdominal
muscles. When you overeat or don’t get enough exercise, it’s down
to genetics as to where fat may build up. Men tend to become apple-shaped
as fat deposits grow on the chest, stomach, hips and buttocks. Women
tend to go pear-shaped as fat deposits grow on stomach, hips, buttocks
and thighs. Some women put on weight on their breasts and stomachs
only whilst others may gain fat on their hips and buttocks only.
However, these individual areas cannot be targeted for special
attention as far as weight loss is concerned, so there is no specific
‘love handles diet’ or ‘hips diet’. Embarking on a diet to reduce
total body fat will of course also reduce the size of the love handles.
Targeting that specific area of the body to exercise will not reduce
the size of the love handles significantly. Love handles will be
reduced by the same proportion as the fat on all other areas of
the body.
One pound of fat equals 3500 calories. Reducing your calorie intake
by only 100 calories per day means that it will take 35 days to
lose 1 pound of pure fat. Exercising for just half an hour can easily
use another 100 calories per day. This means that with very little
effort, you could lose around 2 pounds of pure fat per month. What
