Eating
Late – Does It Cause Weight Gain?
This is another popular misconception. For some reason, many people
believe that eating dinner late at night ruins their weight loss
plans. It’s not eating late that causes diets to crash – it’s eating
too much of the wrong foods during the day that does it.
We are told to not eat after 6.00 pm for example to discourage
us from snacking on junk such as biscuits, sweets and crisps whilst
watching TV. This curfew also stops you from ‘having a little supper’
which can take you way over the top of the daily recommended calorie
intake.
So, it’s fine to eat late as long as you don’t consume more than
your daily allowance. In fact, it’s probably better to eat a later
rather than sooner because then you won’t be tempted towards the
fridge or the biscuit tin.
